Orion Propulsion Announced as Boeing Team Member for the NASA Ares I Upper Stage Production Bid

Boeing has announced their Industry Team for the Ares I Crew Launch Vehicle Upper Stage Production bid. Orion Propulsion has been revealed as a team member and will supply reaction control system thruster test equipment, tooling, and test support services. Orion will also provide design, fabrication, and testing expertise. In addition, Orion will be working with Boeing's mentor-protégé program in order to grow as a supplier to both Boeing and NASA. Our founder and President, Tim Pickens, was the lead in-house propulsion developer for Burt Rutan on SpaceShipOne. His vision was to start an aerospace company that excelled in designing, fabricating, and testing real aerospace hardware. The company’s design philosophy would combine traditional propulsion and aerospace design with proven manufacturing processes and innovative engineering.

It would apply cutting-edge advances in analysis, materials science, fabrication, and testing to offer affordable, reliable aerospace solutions.

From this vision, Orion Propulsion was formed. After two years of business, we have achieved our goal of being an aerospace company that focuses on designing, fabricating, and testing hardware. We are known for our savvy technical team, innovative ideas, and responsiveness to customer needs.
